Feeding the Sweethearts

We feed our lovely bees in the spring before we put on the honey super, and we'll feed again in the fall after we take it off. We feed them a 1:1 sugar water solution.

The bees are hardcore into sugar! They go through this in about 3 days.

For obvious reasons, we buy our sugar in 15 lb bags now.

We feed our girls using top hive feeder. We have tried other feeders but we had issues with robbing and drowned bees. This has been our most successful option and it holds a good amount of syrup too!
